Shakira has postponed her first concert dates of her “El Dorado World Tour,” confirming Tuesday that strained vocal cords are to blame for the delay.
“To my friends in Germany,” the 40-year- old pop star wrote in a message on her official website. “During these last few days of rehearsals, I have unfortunately strained my vocal cords and as a result, my doctors have ordered me to go on vocal rest to avoid any greater damage that could keep me from performing.”
Shakira said she is “devastated” about missing her concerts, which were scheduled for Wednesday in Cologne and Friday and Saturday in Paris.! The singer is now due to kick off the tour in the southern French city of Montpellier next Thursday before a slew of Spanish concerts, which will end in her adopted home of Barcelona at the end of the month.
